Why We Sing - Exodus 14-18 - Village Church Annandale - Sermon
7 Aug '22 Dominic Steele - Some sing in the shower. Others sing in the car. Some sing at the football. Some sing to muster up courage. There are some things you can't say in prose. The emotions and experience need to be expressed in poetry and song. In Exodus 15 it's the first recorded song in the Bible. Israel having been saved from slavery to the Egyptians, and having watched God's great act of judgement on the Egyptian army, sing together the praises of their great God.
The challenge for us is: Will we sing to God and to each other? Will we praise him? Will we praise him for his character - will we praise him for his action of salvation? Will we praise him for his action of judgement? Will we sing - excited/anticipating the future - that God is leading/guiding us to. Will we sing to give courage? Will we sing as an expression of unity? Will we sing of the future we share?
Length: 37mins
