Top 5 Books in 60s… Every Christian Should Read
If you're only going to read five Christian books, what should they be? Rod Earnshaw takes a look at some of the core books of the Christian literary canon.
Please check out our other 'Top 5 Books' videos.
Rod Earnshaw is the Senior Minister of Holy Trinity Gateshead, UK.
Here are 5 top books that every Christian should read:
1 Know and Tell the Gospel by John Chapman. Every Christian needs a clear grasp of the gospel, the heart of the faith. Chappo is very clear, simple and yet profound. Read it and share it.
2 Knowing God by JI Packer: comprehensive, densely packed nuggets of truth taking us right through God’s character and our response. Not an easy read, but take it slowy and it’s an investment worth making.
3 Do you Pray? by JC Ryle. Written from the heart to the heart – this is an impassioned call to live out our faith in constant prayer: it’s intensely practical and deeply refreshing.
4 Gospel and Kingdom by Graeme Goldsworthy. Helps us to see the big picture of the whole Bible. If you’ve never seen it as one coherent whole this will revolutionise the bible for you.
And 5 The Cross of Christ by John Stott. The cross is the centre of our faith, we should regularly return to this theme. Stott’s book is the evangelical classic.
So 5 books every Christian should read. Now it’s over to you - these’ll help you to renew your mind and to put your faith into action.
