The Bible Project: Zechariah Overview
The book of Zechariah is set after the return of the exiles from Babylon to Jerusalem. Ezra 5: 1-2 says that Zechariah and Haggai together challenged and motivated the people to rebuild and look for the fulfilment of God's promises to restore his Temple and bring the rule of the Messiah to all nations. However life back in Jerusalem was hard and it seemed like none of God's promises were gonig to come true: Zechariah offers an explanation for what's going on.
